The short answer

  • There is no national pool compliance certificate — every state runs its own regime.
  • Validity runs from 1 year (QLD shared pools) to 4 years (VIC).
  • Queensland councils cannot issue certificates — only a licensed pool safety inspector can.
  • Victoria adds a step the others do not: lodge the certificate with council within 30 days.
